The following review originally appeared on Book End Babes, a website devoted to a love of reading and to learning about new authors.
When I was a kid, my favorite part about Halloween was going trick-or-treating and then sorting my candy. I would sit with my mom and we would pull all of the hard candy and put it into a jar for use on the gingerbread house at Christmas.
That’s probably why I love The Best Halloween Ever! Those of you who are parents may have read this one, or Robinson’s first book, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! In fact, this book is funnier to me as an adult than it was to me when I was a kid.
The book revolves around the misdeeds of the awful, terrible, mischievous Herdman kids. The six of them terrorize the town and because of their past misdeeds, the mayor cancels Halloween! Can you imagine stores without Halloween candy and no trick-or-treating!
The principal of the school decides to host a Halloween party, thinking the night will be Herdman free! But is it really?
I won’t tell you what happens, but I highly recommend that you pick up a copy up of this Halloween classic! It will make you laugh and shake your head. This book will definitely become part of your Halloween tradition. What are your favorite books to read for this ghoulish day?
